Present is better than perfect! This Mother’s Day weekend, Shawndra Lucas shared a message about Mary, the mother of Jesus, and the gift of a mother’s presence.
John 2:4-5
Jesus replied to his mother, “My time has not yet come.” But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
God is the God of presence. The whole Bible is the story of God with us. The real power of a mother is not multitasking, it is presence.
1) A presence that SEES.
Jesus’ first miracle took place after an exchange with his mother. Mary knew about Jesus’ power better than his own disciples.

Mothers see us for who we are. They are often the first and loudest voice speaking to our calling and potential.
2) A presence that SEEKS.
Mothers have a gift for finding us where we are. Moms develop a prophetic perception for their children.
3) A presence that STANDS.
Mary was one of the few who stood with Jesus in his moment of suffering. Even in pain, mothers show us the steadfast love of God!
