Have you ever wondered if God is listening? This weekend, Pastor Joaquin Pardo concluded our THIS CHRISTMAS series with a message reminding us that God hears every prayer and answers them all faithfully—in His time and His way.
Luke 1:13
But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
The story of Zechariah and Elizabeth is one of waiting, and ultimately, God’s faithfulness. Though they were righteous and faithful, their prayers for a child went unanswered for years—until God moved in His perfect timing.
1) God has heard your prayers.
The angel’s words to Zechariah are a powerful reminder that God hears us. Even when it feels like nothing is happening, your prayers are not being ignored.
Matthew 6:6
“Your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
Keep praying and trusting because God is listening.
2) God answers prayers on His terms.
When Zechariah and Elizabeth finally received their long-awaited miracle, they weren’t given the chance to choose their son’s name—God had already chosen it: John. This reminds us that God’s answers don’t always come packaged the way we expect.
Proverbs 19:21
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”
Trust God’s plan, even when it’s not what you envisioned.
3) Step aside and let God do what only He can do.
When Zechariah doubted the angel’s words, he was made silent until the promise was fulfilled. Sometimes, our doubts, fears, and insecurities get in the way of God’s work.
4) Celebration follows surrender.
Zechariah’s voice returned when he wrote, “His name is John,” demonstrating his surrender to God’s plan. His first words were words of praise. Often, our inability to surrender keeps us from celebrating the blessings God is giving us. When we align our hearts with His will, joy and celebration follow.
Whatever prayers you’ve been lifting up, don’t lose heart. God hears you, and He is faithful to respond in His way and in His time. Keep trusting, keep praying, and watch what He will do!
