God’s power has given us everything we need! This weekend Pastor Steve Andres began our RENEW series with a message about God’s power and provision in our lives.
2 Peter 1:3
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
The Apostle Peter opens his letter by reminding us that our faith is the same as his. Why? Because it is the object of our faith that matters, and that object is Jesus.
1) Your faith is not fragile.
Faith is more than positive thinking or belief. Our faith is rooted in the person of Jesus, in his resurrection and victory over death. The more we lean into this, the more unshakable our hope.
2) God’s work in Christ comes with everything you need.
Everything that we need to be fully formed in Christ has already been delivered to us when we trusted Jesus. Our job is to nurture this gift and cooperate with it so it develops in our lives.
3) The goal is to grow up in godliness.
God’s plan for us is not only to appreciate Him, but to become like him. Peter says that this growth in godliness happens in spite of the evil all around us and in us.
Spiritual habits are the way we access God’s grace to tend to our sinful hearts.
When we trust that God has given us the power to live in freedom, we can find grace to live in God’s purposes for our lives today!
